How to Easily Find Files in Imageshop

Proper categorization is key to finding the files you’re looking for. When you put effort into organizing your files in the image bank, it’s important that they’re easy to search for later.

Keywords, categories, and albums are some of the ways you can manually make it easier for both yourself and others to navigate the image bank. You can read more about smart ways to think about keywords and manual categorization here.

In this article, however, you’ll see some of the automatic features in Imageshop that help you find images.

Metadata from the Image File

Metadata is information about the file you upload. Imageshop automatically retrieves this into the image bank, and some of this information is searchable. Filename, file size, GPS coordinates, and resolution are examples of metadata you can search by.

Automatic metadata retrieval is especially useful if you work with photographers who are good at tagging their images and take the time to do so. Then there’s a lot of information that can be helpful when searching in the image bank.

As an Administrator, you have access to all metadata uploaded with the file. It looks like this:

If you want some of this information to be available to everyone else, you can choose to have it automatically filled in by Imageshop. That way, everyone gets access to the information without you having to remember to add it manually.

Automatic Image Recognition – How Does It Work?

Imageshop offers automatic image recognition that works intuitively. You upload a file, and the image bank will automatically try to recognize what’s in the picture. Keywords that match the content are added automatically.

This feature can save you a lot of time. It streamlines uploading and sorting and significantly improves searchability.

In the image below, you can see a group of tags connected to the picture. All tags in gray have been added by AI:

Face Recognition with AI Search

The AI module doesn’t just add relevant keywords – it can also recognize faces. Face recognition is a feature that marks and identifies faces in images, so you can easily name the correct person. You only need to name the person once, and the image bank takes care of the rest.

You’ll be able to click on a person’s face and see all other images you have of them in the image bank.

You also have the option to collect and store information about consent and rights in the image bank. If you’ve done that, you’ll be able to see when you’re allowed to use the images and when you need to obtain consent before using the material. Face recognition also makes it easy to get an overview of all images you have of a person for whom consent is required. With the privacy module, this can be done easily from Imageshop by sending an email.

What Are Users Searching For?

It’s not always easy to know what categories, albums, and keywords you should use in the image bank. People don’t always search for what we think they’re searching for.

But you don’t have to guess—you can just check the “keywords” report in the admin section. There, you’ll get a complete overview of the most used search terms in the image bank. You can use the report to analyze what people are looking for, and then adjust categories, albums, and tagging to make sure users find the important files they need.

Here’s an example of a keyword report:
